Using Youtube embedded links in templates

With the web page widget, you can add embedded links to Youtube content to your templates, such as individual videos, video playlists and live streams. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Embed your Youtube video/stream
  2. Copy the video/stream URL for embedding without the html code
  3. Paste the copied embedded link to the URL field of the Web page widget in template designer
  4. Add parameters to the embedded link if required. Note: The first parameter is always added to the URL with "?" and each subsequent parameter is added with "&"
  5. Save your template and assign it to displays.

In this tutorial we will use the embedded URL of our Simpleway content on Youtube with some added parameters as an example.

TUTORIAL STEPS:

A) Embed Youtube video/stream

  1. Right-click the video/stream player window on Youtube webpage and select the Copy embed code option.


B) Obtain URL

  1. Paste the copied embed code to any text editor.
  2. Copy the URL from the embed code. 

C) Create a template.

  1. Open the Templates tab.
  2. Click the New template button.

D) Add a Web Page widget.

  1. Click the Widgets button and select the Web Page option.
  2. Click the canvas in order to place the selected Web Page widget.

E) Edit a Web Page widget.

  1. Change the size and position of the Web Page region to suit your needs.
  2. Insert the embedded Youtube link into the URL field under the Webpage URL section and add parameters to it if required.
  3. Click the Save & Publish button.


Note: The Auto reload drop box allows you to switch on and off the automatic reload of the webpage. When the Auto reload is switched on you can set the Reload rate (in seconds).
