Description:
A display controller is always connected to a TV / LCD screen. The reason for a blank display can be on either side.
Overview of possible actions:
  1. Check the connection of the controller to the TV / LCD screen
  2. Check for TV / LCD screen problems
  3. Check for controller problems
  4. Check if the display responds to input prompts

1. Check the connection of the controller to the TV / LCD screen

Usually this is not a weak point, but you can try to check it.

A) Controller to TV / LCD screen connection
  • Check the HDMI / DisplayPort cable

Note: Sometimes replacing the cable can help. There are several reasons for cable failure: loose ends, excessive length and poor cable quality.

2. Check for TV / LCD screen problems

Sometimes we may encounter problems with displaying the TV / LCD screen.

A) Check if the TV / LCD screen is plugged in

They usually have a LED power indicator

  1. Securely fit the AC outlet.
  2. Check that the controller works from the same outlet  (power LED is ON).
  3. Try switching to another source (HDMI-1, HDMI-2).

3. Check for controller problems

A controller is just a PC that can occasionally malfunction.

A) Check that the controller is plugged in

A controller from Simpleway (DDC / UPRD unit) has a blue power-on indicator. If it is not lit, then follow the step below:

  1. Securely fit the AC outlet.
  2. Securely fit the DC connector at the unit side.
  3. Press the power ON button.

B) Check that the power adaptor works
A controller from Simpleway (DDC / UPRD unit) comes with a DC adaptor which has a green power-on indicator. If it is not lit, proceed as follows:

  1. Securely fit the power cable on the adaptor side.
  2. Check whether the TV / LCD screen works on the same outlet.
  3. Try using a different DC adaptor.

4. Check if the display responds to input prompts

The controller and TV / LCD screen are both switched on and you can see that the controller is booting the operating system. This is followed by an autologin and starting of the Simplevue application.

A) Check that the screen is not obscured by the Simplevue Watchdog application

  1. Press ALT+TAB to toggle between Simpleway Watchdog and SimpleVue application.
  2. Press F2 to open the SimpleVue settings.
    3. Enable all settings under Fullscreen and focus section.

B) Check if controller is running the Simplevue application
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to check if the controller is responding to prompts.

  1. Check if SimpleVue is running in the task manager.
  2. Check if SimpleVue is installed (in Programs and Features control panel).
  3. If the application is not running but is installed and the controller is connected to a domain, certain domain policies may cause issues. In this case, consult with your IT team for hardening measures that might cause issues with running the application.

C) Controller has the SimpleVue application installed and can be run manually. It does not run automatically after controller startup

Check if SimpleVue is configured to run after startup by opening startup shell and looking for start.exe.

  1. Type WIN+R to open the Run dialog. Enter "shell:startup" and press OK.
  2. Check if start.exe shortcut is in the Startup folder. This shortcut should point to the default SimpleVue installation folder which is:
    C:\Program Files\Simpleway\SimpleVue\
