Article summary

UI Lockdown is here for the moments when interaction needs to stop—fast. Whether it’s an emergency or a technical issue, this tool lets you freeze selected user interfaces and display a clear message. Just like with other scenario tools, being prepared can save valuable time.

UI Lockdown temporarily disables the user interface on selected devices and displays a custom message. You choose which devices to lock and what they’ll show on screen.

Follow the steps below to quickly set it up.

Topics covered:
  • User Interface lockdown setup
  • Device selection

TUTORIAL STEPS:

A) Create a new scenario

  1. Open the Scenarios tab.
  2. Click the New scenario button.

B) Scenario configuration

  1. Name the scenario.
  2. Select the Type of scenario from the drop-down. Available types are Emergency, Warning, Normal.
  3. Select the Threat level with “0” being the lowest and “5” the highest threat level.

Note: Scenario types and threat levels have no effect on scenario activation and serve only to categorize the table items on the tab, being a subjective assessment of the scenario settings themselves, which, in the user's interest, should reflect a set of specific actions, their parameters and order.

C) Adding User interface lockdown action

  1. Select the User interface lockdown action.
C) User Interface Lockdown Setup

  1. Type the message to be shown on the locked screen in the User Message field.
  2. Click the Change UIs button to open the device selection window.

Important: Only selected devices will be affected by the lockdown. Devices not selected will continue functioning normally.

D) Selecting devices for lockdown

  1. On the left side, select filter criteria such as Checkin or Gate to display only devices in a specific area or group
  2. For quicker control, use Select All or Unselect All buttons. These buttons help you to select or deselect all devices currently shown based on the filter you've chosen. These actions only apply to devices in the active filter.
  3. Manually select individual devices by clicking on their label.
  4. Click Apply to confirm your selection
E) Overview of your data

  1. See a summary showing the lockdown message and all the selected devices.
  2. Click the Save button

F) After the scenario is configured and saved it is added to the Scenarios activation tab. The scenario can have the following statuses:

  • Inactive - a red icon indicates that the scenario is not activated on the Scenario activation tab.
  • Active - a green icon indicates that the scenario is activated on the Scenario activation tab, in which case it cannot be edited until it is deactivated.

Activate the scenario on the Scenarios activation tab.
