Play GENERIC announcements

Generic announcements are located in the Paging tab which is used for triggering announcements inherent by the system, announcements pre-recorded by professional voice talent, uploaded audio files, announcements recorded by the client, and text-to-speech type announcements. 

How to trigger playing of flight-related announcements:

  1. select the announcement you want to play on the Paging tab,
  2. configure the announcement - language, variables etc., 
  3. select zones where your announcement shall be heard.

If you cannot find the announcement you want to play in the Paging tab, you can either use the Ad hoc announcements tab or create a new announcement in the Paging library for repetitive announcements, see tutorial Create CUSTOM announcements. Announcements created on the Paging library can be played from the Paging tab. 

Announcement text can also be displayed on displays if the selected zones include display configurations to which templates with a visual paging component are assigned, as described in the Visual paging tutorial.

TUTORIAL STEPS:

A) Paging tab - prepared generic announcement.
  1. Open the Paging tab.
  2. Select the announcement that you want to trigger.
B) Announcement configuration.
Window with the announcement details opens:

  1.  Select languages section is for selecting the languages in which the scheduled announcement will be transmitted. Only English is currently supported.
  2.  Preview your announcement before playing. With the ear button, the announcement can be pre-listened.
  3. Select zones by ticking the respective checkboxes where you want your announcement to be transmitted.
  4. (optional) – Select the Repetition type and configure the repetition settings.
  5. (optional) – Select the Priority with which your recording will be queued up for playback among other announcements.
  6. Click the Play button.


Setting a repetition of the recording:

Users are able to set different basic repetition settings by selecting the desired mode in the Repetition type dropdown. 

  • None – the announcement will be played one time once the user clicks on the Play button.
  • Multiple times – the announcement will be played immediately once the user clicks on the Play button, and then it will repeat multiple times according to the set repetition. All scheduled announcement repetitions will be visible in the list on the Planned announcements tab as individual items. The maximum time limit for scheduling ahead of the current time is 180 minutes.

Important: The announcement will play immediately in the selected zones unless these zones are occupied by the playback of other announcements of the same priority/ importance. In this case, the playback of the announcement will be delayed until the selected zones are free again.
